Please be aware there are a number of pet sales scam operations. Frequently these companies or individuals will not reveal a physical address or even the names of the individuals other than a website and business name and will request large payments upfront for kittens. It is highly suggested that you do adequate research about the catteries and individuals prior to sending money. TICA strongly recommends that transactions with breeders be undertaken with the same caution and due diligence as one would devote to any important business matter.

Scammers create a sense of urgency with kitten buyers so they can quickly get their cash and then they disappear.

Sketchy payment. The seller asks for wiring of money or payment by gift cards. Be aware that if you choose a non-secure method of payment, it is highly unlikely that you will get your money back.

No phone calls. The seller prefers to handle communication by email and not the phone or in person.

 

Our Cattery History

Cascade Mountain is a registered cattery with TICA and with CFA since 1991.
We actively show our cats in TICA (The International Cat Association) locally, and occasionally in other states. We are fortunate to have many Supreme Grand Champions, Regional Winners and several International Winners’ in the years we’ve been breeding/showing. Our breeding cats have carefully chosen pedigrees that feature healthy lines with great personality, and show winning conformations to the Maine Coon standard. Along with this dedication to pedigree and health is the belief that high quality cat food is essential for the life and health of the cats we treasure and share our lives with.

Maine Coon Characteristics

We breed and raise healthy, beautiful Maine Coons. These are cats that will take your breath away as you marvel at their size and see their exquisite facial expression, and long flowing classic coat. The breed is known for their wonderful personality and sweet social nature so we take special care in selecting only cats with this trait for our breeding program.

Health Testing on our Breeding Cats

We are dedicated to raising healthy kittens and with that ideal in mind we screen our breeding cats with board certified veterinary cardiologists to test for heart health. Only cats with normal healthy hearts are used and they must be DNA negative for the one known marked gene in Maine Coons that is thought to cause heart disease. This is the only legitimate science breeders have to screen for genetic heart health and it does reduce the population of cats that will inherit HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). However it cannot guarantee our cats or their kittens future long term health.

Socializing our Kittens

Our kittens are raised in the social environment of our home and they are fed a premium grain free cat healthy diet appropriate for a carnivore both canned and raw meat. Kittens are vaccinated on a schedule and the litter is examined by our veterinarian before they are released to their new families at approx 12 to 14 weeks old.
